A.R. Rahman to compose for Silambarasan’s flick

Finally, here’s everything that you need to know about Silambarasan’s forthcoming venture, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya. Readers must be aware that the film is to be directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and Trisha is the leading lady. There was a great suspense as to who would wield the music baton after the infamous rift between Gautham and Harris Jeyaraj broke out. Well, this time it is A.R. Rahman!

Now, the other details are: the man behind the camera will be Manoj Paramahamsa, editing by Anthony, art by Rajeevan, the costumes will be designed by Nalini Sriram and songs are penned by Thamarai. The producers are Madhan Ganesh, Elred Kumar and Jayaraman. Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya is a joint venture between Escape Artistes Motions Pictures and R.S. Infotainment.

A.R. Rahman's greatest achievement till date!

Music director A.R. Rahman made all Indians proud today(Jan 12th 2009) by winning the Golden Globe award for his music in the film Slumdog Millionaire. It is interesting to note that he is the first Indian to be honored with this prestigious award. A.R. Rahman bagged the Golden Globe for his song Jai Ho, which was penned by Gulzar. The film also won

the Best Director award for Danny Boyle, Best Original Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy and the Best Motion Picture award. Ever since its release, Slumdog Millionaire has been receiving rave reviews and has already bagged several prestigious awards including the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (2008) and the Broadcast Film Critics Association's Fourteenth Annual Critics Choice Awards. The 66th Golden Globe Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles. The movie is expected to hit Indian screens in January last week.

A R Rahman wins golden globe nomination

Music director A R Rahman has won a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score for his music in British director Danny Boyle's uplifting underdog tale 'Slum Dog Millionaire'.

The film has also earned three other nominations for Best Picture-Drama, Best Director for Boyle and Best Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy for the 2008 Golden Globe Awards given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

The film narrates the heart warming story of an 18-year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who goes on to win a staggering Rs. 20 million on India's 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' game show.

Earlier this week, Slum Dog Millionaire won two awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association - Best Director for Boyle and Best Music for Rahman.

Currently playing in several major cities, Slum Dog Millionaire will open in 87 additional theaters across North America Friday and bring its total theatre count to 165.

AR Rahman tunes for Mahesh's movie

AR Rahman scored his first for Mahesh in the movie 'Nani'. Mahesh Babu and Ameesha Patel played the lead cast. The movie was directed by SJ Surya.

Being SJ Suryah's favorite songster, Rahman is once again composing music for Pawan Kalyan's 'Puli' directed by Suryah. Once it is done, the music director is going to carry on orchestrating for Tollywood with Mahesh Babu's next to be directed by Gautham Menon.

The team usually comprised of Harris Jayaraj and Gautham Menon since a long time, but due to an estranged relationship between them, the duo has split-up. After parting ways with 'Surya s/o Krishna' being their last, Harris moved out and Rahman stepped into the project.

Vikram to kidnap Aishwarya Rai

Very recently, Vikram, in an interview to Behindwoods disclosed about his upcoming movie with Mani Ratnam and how thrilled he was about the project. Now news from Kollywood is that the movie might in fact be a modern day adaptation of Ramayana.

And it is learnt that Vikram might be playing the modern day Ravana.

Mani had, in the past, adapted Mahabharatha in Thalapathy. Other directors have also adapted Ramayana earlier. For instance, Vishal's hit debut movie Chellamae, with Bharath and Reema Sen, being one of them.

Aishwarya Rai is supposed to play Seetha. Prithiviraj and Priyamani are also said to play important roles in this multi-starrer.

So can movie buffs get to see Vikram kidnap Aishwarya Rai?

Music will be by A.R. Rahman. Camera is said to be handled by Manikandan
